Ålgård FK
Ålgård Fotballklubb is a Norwegian football club located in Ålgård founded in 1915. It currently plays in the Norwegian Second Division. Ålgård played in Hovedserien, then the highest division in Norway, for several years after World War II. The club has afterwards mainly been playing at the third highest level, and was last promoted to Second Division in 2002.
Ålgård is one of the largest football clubs in Rogaland in regarding to members and has many teams in the youth department. This has made it possible to produce enough talents to keep the club in the 2nd division. After Bryne FK was promoted to Norways highest division in 1975, many players have been transferred to the club from Jæren. Bryne lies only 16 km from Ålgård. Players like Birk Engstrøm, Kåre Sivertsen, Sverre Kristian Vaule, Rune Medalen, and Jørgen Rangnes have played for Bryne in the highest division. Engstrøm also have one cap for Norway.
The last players who have been transferred to larger clubs, have been Marius Helle (Bryne), Edwin Kjeldner (FC Lyn Oslo) and Robert Tveit (Sandnes Ulf). The clubs also have transferred women to Klepp IL like Sissel Grude and Dagny Mellgren. Mellgren scored Norways winning goal in the 2000 Summer Olympics Final.
==History==
It was presumed that the club was founded in 1925, and the club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1975. It was then known that the club was a bit older, but it was refounded 30 March 1925. After the 50th anniversary there was found a cup where the words "ÅFK 1915" was written. This is the only reason that the club today regards 1915 as its foundation.
